Word clouds can help us understand the key vocabulary in any text

  1. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle
  2. Highlight and copy the main text of the article on turtles
  3. Go to http://folk.uib.no/nfylk/concordle/
  4. Delete the text in the box (use CTRL+A to select all, then DELETE)
    • Paste in the text about the turtles
    • Choose the ORDERED CLOUD view.
  5. Find a word that you would like to study and learn how to use.  Use SPECIES as an example.
    • Click on SPECIES in the word cloud, then look at the ‘concordance’ below.
    • Try a few more words.
